FAQ's
Are the training courses accredited?
Our Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork is accredited by Active IQ. The qualification is Government approved (on the RQF), endorsed by CIMSPA, regulated by Ofqual, internationally recognised and sought after by employers.
Our 100hr Diploma in group & 1-1 Reformer Pilates CPD is endorsed by Active IQ, an internationally recognised awarding body, assuring you of the highest delivery standards.
Am I able to book the reformer pilates course, before I have completed my mat course?
Yes, absolutely you can go ahead and book.
However, you will need to wait until you have completed your in-person dates for your mat course before you start your in-person dates for the reformer course. Please note we will only be able to give you your reformer certificate once you have completed your mat qualification.
How long will it take to complete the course?
We recommend registering a minimum of 1 month before the face-to-face training to give you time to complete the pre course learning, and you will take a final practical assessment 2-3 months after the in-person training.
In person training is 5 days for the Mat course from 9am – 5pm each day.
In person training is 4 days for the Reformer course from 9am – 5pm each day.
On average, it will take between 4 – 6 months to complete the course.
Is there an express route, if I already have industry experience?
Yes, if you have a L3 Ofqual regulated Personal Training or Yoga certificate you will be exempt form the pre course learning units as long as it is less than 3 years old.
If it’s more than 3 years old, you will need to re-take them, however, it will be much quicker. You can also submit a video practical assessment (link to terms) to fast track your certification if you have prior teaching experience. In these instances, you could be certified in as little as 6 weeks.
How much time will I need to set aside for the pre-course learning?
For the Mat course you will need to complete 2 worksheets and 2 multiple choice theory assessments prior to attending the face-to-face training. We recommend allowing 3-4 hours for each worksheet and 10 – 15 hours for each theory paper although it will depend on learning styles and vary between students.
For the Reformer course you will have 1 multiple choice theory paper to prepare for, online video content and theory reading to complete beforehand.
will the mat course allow me to train as a reformer pilates teacher?
Yes, this L3 mat qualification will meet the pre-requisites for both regulated and non-regulated reformer training courses.
what support will I receive for the pre-course learning?
For both courses you will receive a comprehensive and detailed digital manual. You will also receive video resources.
For the mat course you will also receive an additional Active IQ manual. You can choose to have a digital or a hard copy version. To prepare for the theory papers you will recieve questions to help with revision, practice mock papers and take part in timed mocks prior to sitting the multiple-choice papers.
will I be able to get feedback before my teaching before I complete my final assessment?
Yes, we believe this is an essential part of developing teaching skills and confidence to succeed in the industry. During the face-to-face training, you will practice teaching in pairs every day and receive feedback from a trained assessor. After the face-to-face training, you will be able to arrange a live zoom mock or submit a mock video and will be given feedback against the same criteria that you will be assessed against during your final practical to be sure you feel fully prepared.
If you feel you would benefit from further teaching practice and feedback, this can be arranged for an additional fee. We are here to support you in any way we can.
can I practice on a reformer ahead of my assessment?
We offer learners the opportunity to book to practice in one of our reformer studios ahead of their final practical assessment. This is to ensure that you feel fully prepared on the day. The times available will vary depending on studio availability.
can I submit a video practical assessment if I am new to the industry?
We recommend that all learners attend an in-person assessment day where possible as we believe it is the most effective way of assessing a vocational skill. It is also an excellent learning opportunity for you to take part in each other’s assessments.
However, we will accept video submissions (subject to terms) where travel is an issue, a learner was ill for their in person practical assessment or for those wishing to fast track due to industry experience.
Am I well-practiced enough to teach pilates?
Having a regular Pilates practice is an important aspect of learning to be a credible Pilates teacher. We ask all learners to keep a record of at least 20 hours of Pilates classes they attend from when they register for the course until completion. You will have access to video’s that we ask you to participate in prior to the course starting to help you prepare for the course. They cover the basic principles, a foundational sequence and an intermediate repertoire. You will have lifetime access to these videos.
The participation in regular classes is far more important than the level or intensity of the class. You will see that all exercises can be modified and adapted to suit individual needs and posture types. Whilst it is important that you are able to demonstrate the exercises you are teaching, you can teach adapted variations that suit you and your students and we will teach you how to do this. It is important to name your class accordingly to meet client expectations.
